HISTORY: FRONTIER AIRLINES was a United States airline formed by a merger of Arizona Airways, Challenger Airlines, and Monarch Airlines (1946–1950) on June 1, 1950. It was headquartered at Stapleton Airport in Denver. The airline ceased operations on August 24, 1986. In 1994, a new airline was founded using the Frontier Airlines name.
