HISTORY: AIR BALTIC is a state-owned Latvian low-cost carrier and the country's flag carrier, with its head office on the grounds of Riga International Airport in Marupe municipality near Riga. The airline was established as Air Baltic on 28 August 1995 with the signing of a joint venture between SAS and the Latvian state. Operations started on 1 October 1995.
